Constitution Society Act

  2. The purposes of the Society are as follows:
  3. a) To provide persons engaged in the design, installation and regulation of onsite wastewater treatment and disposal systems an association through which lawful efforts may be made towards solving problems of on-site wastewater with the result that the general public shall receive the highest possible standard of safe sanitary and environmentally sound on-site wastewater service:

    b) To provide a forum for research, exchange of ideas, information and technology among private industry, professionals and government policy makers and regulators;

    c) To develop programs to further the education, training and certification of persons involved in design, installation, maintenance and regulation of on-site systems;

    d) To actively participate in public and private efforts in development and acceptance of new and improved practices, policies, laws and regulations for on-site wastewater treatment and disposal;

    e) To develop, sponsor and support programs to improve on-site wastewater treatment and disposal, including uniform standards for on-site technologies;

    f) To raise funds for carrying out the purposes of the Society in such manner as the Society shall deem fir, and without limiting the generality of the foregoing, to raise funds through subscriptions, business ventures, membership fees, donations, receiving gifts, and testaments;

    g) To borrow, raise, or secure the payment of money in such manner as the Society thinks fit;

    h) To acquire or take by purchase, lease, license, load, exchange, gift, devise, bequest, or otherwise, all kinds of real and personal property, and to sell, exchange, mortgage, lease, let, improve, and develop the same, and to erect and maintain any buildings for the Society;

    i) To become a member of or co-operate with any other society, association, or person for the purpose of furthering the objects of the Society;

    j) To enter into any arrangements with any authorities, federal, provincial, or societies or persons which may seem conducive to the attainment of the purposes of the Society, or any of them, and to carry out, exercise, and comply with any such arrangements, rights, privileges, and concessions.

  4. The Society shall carry out its purposes without purpose of gain for its members, and the Society shall use any profits or other donations to the Society for promoting its purposes.
  5. No part of the income of the Society shall be payable to or to be otherwise available for the benefit of any member of the Society;
  6. The Society shall devote all its resources to charitable activities, and the Society shall carry out its activities exclusively for charitable purposes.
  7. In the event of the dissolution or winding up of the Society, all its remaining assets after repayment of all outstanding monies owed by the Society and other liabilities, shall be distributed to one or more charitable organizations in Canada, registered under the provisions of the Income Tax Act (CANADA) which shall be designated by the Board of Directors.
  8. Paragraphs 3, 4, 5 and 6 and this paragraph are unalterable.
